ARLINGTON - Educators and community leaders hope to spur Fort Worth middle school students into studying math and science in college at a retreat at The University of Texas at Arlington Fort Worth Center.

The UT Arlington Department of Mathematics, College of Science, Fort Worth Center and the Rotary Club of Fort Worth are organizing a Math and Science Retreat for 110 eighth-graders and 10 teachers from Riverside Middle School of the Fort Worth Independent School District. The event will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Fort Worth Center, 1401 Jones St.

The goal of the Math and Science Retreat is to involve middle-school students in mathematics and science activities, increase their interest in mathematics and science, push them to study mathematics and science at higher levels and encourage them to attend college.
