ARLINGTON - Jeffrey Toobin, senior legal analyst for CNN and staff writer at The New Yorker, will discuss "Current Issues Facing the Courts" at The University of Texas at Arlington at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24. The lecture will be in the Lone Star Auditorium at the Maverick Activities Center, 500 W. Nedderman Drive. Due to space limitations, no tickets remain for the free event.

Toobin's most recent book, "The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court," spent more than four months on The New York Times bestseller list and was named one of the 10 best books of the year by The New York Times Book Review, Time, Newsweek, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly and the Economist. The book also received the J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize for Non-fiction and the Silver Gavel Award of the American Bar Association.

Toobin joined CNN in 2002 after six years with ABC News. In 2000, he received an Emmy Award for his coverage of the Elian Gonzalez case. His lecture at UT Arlington is the final event in the 2009-10 Maverick Speakers Series, an in-depth look at the people, ideas, actions and solutions that impact today's world. It is also part of the Annual Celebration of Excellence by Students (ACES) research symposium.
