ARLINGTON - It's not too late to register for Success: A Woman's Leadership Conference, a one-day event Thursday dedicated to helping women enhance their leadership skills, both professionally and personally.
An initiative of the Institute for Professional Development at UT Arlington's Fort Worth Center, Success will highlight career, educational and social issues affecting all women. The conference takes place at the Sheraton Fort Worth Hotel and Spa, 1701 Commerce St., in downtown Fort Worth.
The conference kicks off at 9 a.m. with a keynote address by Shaunti Feldhahn, author of the new book The Male Factor: The Unwritten Rules, Misperceptions, and Secret Beliefs of Men in the Workplace (Broadway Business, December 2009, $22.99). Feldhahn's book details the findings of a seven-year research study - based on a national survey and interviews with more than 3,000 men - into behaviors that can undermine how women are perceived in the workplace. She was recently featured on NBC's Today Show.
Panel discussions feature corporate and nonprofit leaders on How to Achieve Success, Creating a Successful Brand, Balancing Your Professional and Personal Life and Addressing Multi-Generational Issues in the Workplace.
Among the featured speakers:
- Becky Renfro Borbolla, vice president, Renfro Foods Inc. of Fort Worth
- Dr. Jayne Gardner, life coach and principal, The Gardner Institute, Southlake
- Retired Col. Rebecca Neilson, director of UT Arlington's College of Business Graduate Business Services
- Shirlee Gandy, owner, RPM Commercial, Fort Worth
- Viney Chandler, past president and chief executive officer, United Way of Metropolitan Tarrant County
- Shelley Kofler, KERA news director
And many others.
The conference concludes with the "Share Success EXPO," a 4:30 p.m. networking reception that will give conference attendees an opportunity to learn more about giving back to their communities through featured nonprofit organizations.
Conference registration fees are $95 per person, with a 10 percent discount available to member of governmental or nonprofit organizations and to any organization that enrolls two or more participants.
