Tickets sold out for Oct. 14 Rick Bayless appearance at UT Arlington

ARLINGTON - Award-winning chef-restaurateur, cookbook author and television personality Rick Bayless will speak at The University of Texas at Arlington's Lone Star Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 for the next installment of the University's Maverick Speakers Series.

Tickets are sold out for an "An Evening with a Celebrity Chef." The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. The Lone Star Auditorium is on the first floor of the Maverick Activities Center, 500 W. Nedderman Drive.

Anyone who wishes to attend "An Evening with a Celebrity Chef," but who does not have a ticket, may contact the will call table in front of the auditorium entrance at 7:20 p.m. They will be accommodated as space and time allow.

Bayless has become well known for raising the profile of Mexican cuisine in the United States through his successful restaurants and numerous cookbooks. He has won two prestigious James Beard Awards, including the Beard Foundation's Humanitarian of the Year recognition, as well as numerous other cooking honors.

Bayless' best-selling cookbook, "Mexico: One Plate at a Time," inspired a PBS cooking show, now in its fifth season. He also won the Bravo Channel's Top Chef Masters, a reality show contest among high-profile chefs, in 2009.

Bayless will sign copies of his books following his appearance. The book-signing will be held on the second floor lounge of the Maverick Activities Center.
