The University of Texas at Arlington is sponsoring free SAT math preparation classes on several Saturdays this fall to help area high school and middle school students prepare for the college entrance exam.

The workshops are 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Sept. 22, 29 and Oct. 6, 13 and 27. Classes will take place at two locations in Dallas. Those are: North Dallas High School, 3120 N. Haskell Ave., and Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy, 4730 S. Lancaster Road.

The program is open to public, private and home school students in grades eight through 12. Students are not required to be residents of Dallas County to attend. All participants must have a basic knowledge of algebra.

No pre-registration is required. Students will register at their first session. Attendance for at least three sessions is suggested.

Students should bring their own graphing or scientific calculators and a No. 2 pencil with eraser. Other materials will be supplied. Students also may bring snacks or drinks or purchase them on site.

Co-sponsors of the free sessions include the Dallas Independent School District, Capital One Bank University Crossroads Education Center, Midwestern State University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Texas at Dallas.
