| The
Academic Partnership: BSN Program (AP-BSN) will provide all
course content via a technology-enriched, modular, online
format - very similar to the RN to BSN Academic Partnership
program that enrolled the first cohort of students Fall
2008. Courses will be unbound from traditional semester
schedules as courses are offered in six to twelve week
modules allowing more flexibility for students, faculty
and clinical sites.
The
faculty-of-record for these courses will be UT Arlington
School of Nursing faculty who are actively involved in
the overall nursing program on campus. In addition, coaches
and on-site clinical instructors who have the same academic
credentials as UTASON faculty will be working with each of
the students . The coaches work with groups of up to 30
students and the clinical faculty have no more than 10
students, consistent with Board of Nursing criteria.
Students in this program will
receive the same level of clinical experience and
supervision as those in our traditional BSN program.
To reduce the need for
orientations at multiple clinical facilities, students will
receive most if not all of their clinical experiences
in the assigned Service Partner’s facilities.
Students will be evaluated in the
clinical setting using the same competency-based tools as
students in the traditional program.
Beyond the increased number of new graduate nurses that
will be produced, our service partners believe that
this approach will provide them with new graduates with an
even higher level of readiness to practice because of
their active involvement at the facility; their working
knowledge of policies/procedures and their professional
relationships with staff.
Upon completion of the program requirements, the AP-BSN
students receive their BSN degree from UT Arlington and will
be eligible to take the licensure exam (NCLEX-RN ). |
