NURS 2240 - Placement in Curriculum: Sophomore

Catalog Description: 
2240. CONCEPTS OF PROFESSIONAL NURSING (2-0) 2 hours credit.
Selected concepts and processes for professional nursing. Introduction to nursing’s theoretical, philosophical, ethical and legal dimensions.  Socialization into nursing roles.  

Course Objectives:  

  1. Apply the nursing process using evidence-based data in the delivery of competent,

  2. culturally sensitive, developmentally appropriate holistic care.

  3. Use analytical, logical reasoning for clinical judgment and nursing decision-making.

  4. Assume accountability and responsibility for the quality of nursing care, upholding legal and ethical standards, lifelong learning and continuing professional development, promoting the nursing profession, and participating as a citizen in society.

  5. Collaborate effectively with individuals and groups, using oral, written, non-verbal and electronic communication to enhance the therapeutic process and maintain collegial professional relationships.

  6. Coordinate human and material resources in providing comprehensive, efficient, and cost-effective care to clients
