Nursing Administration Study Area
Courses
Nursing Management in the Health Care Environment (N5311) focuses on the study of
health care organizations in relation to the complex systems in today's
society. Health policy issues are presented and discussed in Nursing and
Health Care Policy (N5382). Economics and financial management are topics in
Financial Management (N5341) while Management of Nursing Operations (N5342) concentrates on
strategies for organizational planning and performance. Management Seminar
and Practice (N5340) emphasizes the study of leadership and organizational behavior
in the health care arena.
Practice Component
Courses
Management of practice in an organizational setting is an integral part of
Roles and Functions (N5339) of the Nurse Administrator as is Management Seminar and
Practice (N5340). The practice component is individualized to the student's
experiential background and career goals.
Distance
Education Format
Nursing Administration courses may be
taken through a variety of distance education formats including live
interactive telecasts in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. Call Patricia

Dual
Degrees
Two dual degrees are offered in conjunction with
the Masters in Nursing Administration:
MSN/MBA
Master of Science in Nursing Administration/Master of Business
Administration. This degree plan offers both degrees by completing a total
of 60 credit hours.
MSN/HCAD Master of Science in
Nursing Administration and Health Care Administration. This degree plan
offers both degrees by completing a total of 57 credit hours.
Students seeking a dual degree
will begin their coursework in the MSN program. After completing 9-12
semester hours in
the MSN program and before applying for the dual degree, the student will
meet with the Graduate Advisor in nursing and the MBA or HCAD Program (as
applicable) to revise the course/degree plan for the specific dual degree.
Joint
Degrees UTA/UNT (57 credit
hours)
MSN/MPH Master of
Science in Nursing Administration with a Master of Public Health. This
degree plan offers both degrees by completing the respective total credit hours.
Students seeking a join degree
should meet with the Graduate Nursing Advisor to review and revise the
Nursing Administration degree plan as soon as the student has been accepted
by the cooperating university.
In each case, the dual or joint
degree student must meet the admission criteria for the cooperating
program/university.
