UTA Graduate Nursing
Education
Certificate Program

In Summer 2002, the graduate program introduced a Nurse Educator Program. This program consists of two certificates: a 6-7 hour Nurse Educator Certificate; and a 13 hour Advanced Nurse Educator Certificate. These certificates in nursing education  provide a program of study to develop expertise in the teaching of nursing students, qualifying Texas Registered Nurses holding a non-nursing master's degree to teach in accredited nursing programs. In addition, these courses can be taken to strengthen the background of nurses with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree for teaching in schools of nursing. Nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) might take these courses to use as electives in the MSN program so they might have a background to teach when they graduate.
