History
The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)
School of Nursing has a history of preparing Nurse Practitioners
(NPs), Nursing Administrators, and Nurse Educators since 1975.
Currently UTA offers NP Programs in the areas of Acute Care
(initiated 1996), Acute Care Pediatrics (2002), Adult (1989, Family
(1995), Gerontology (1989), Neonatal (2008), Pediatrics (1985), and
Psychiatric-Mental Health (1991). The Emergency NP Program (started in
2004) is currently being revised. In addition to NP Programs the School
of Nursing offers a Nursing Administration Program (initiated 1982) and
a Nursing Education Program (started in 2009).
The faculty are
nationally certified in their area of specialization and actively
involved in clinical practice. The graduates of UTA’s NP
Programs have a history of over 97% pass rate on national
certification exams, practice in a variety of settings, and are
hired as expert health care providers. The Nursing
Administration Program prepares leaders for the health care system
who hold executive positions in a variety of settings and these
graduates have 100% pass rate on the advanced administration
national certification exam. The Nursing Education Program
prepares faculty to teach in Associate and Baccalaureate Nursing
programs and education positions in health care delivery systems.
Graduates of the Nursing Education Program will be prepared to take
the national nurse educator certification exam.
The graduate program offers flexible scheduling of
courses with evening classes, all-day classes scheduled
approximately every other week, Saturday classes, and some distance
education (DE) courses that includes internet, videos, and V-tel. |
