Dear Student,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Nursing’s PhD Program and to the many activities in which you will be invited to participate.  As Coordinator of the Mentoring Program, I am pleased to offer you the opportunity to experience the first hand benefits of a mentor relationship.

A mentor has been defined in many ways by persons throughout the centuries.  Simply put, a mentor is someone to whom you can turn for support, advice, testing of ideas and identification of resources.

Please review the section on “Mentoring” in the handbook and consider participating in the mentorship program.  I will meet with all incoming students and continuing students as needed to determine how best to identify an appropriate mentor to provide guidance and support on your educational journey.  I look forward to meeting each of you and to working with you to assist you meet your goals.

Mary Lou Bond, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF, FAAN
