Academic Role Development

Clinical Research

The purpose of the Academic Role Development Area of Study is to provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills requisite for a successful academic role (i.e., faculty, Dean or Director) in institutions of higher learning preparing students who are capable of healthcare careers in a diverse society.

The outcome objectives for the Academic Role Development Area of Study are to prepare nurse scientists who will:

  1. Integrate the roles of teaching, research and professional service into the academic role.  

  2. Advance the holistic education of nursing students within the University and Texas.

The purpose of the Clinical Research Area of Study is to provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills requisite for a successful role in Health Services Research among diverse and/or vulnerable populations.

 

The outcome objectives for the Clinical Research Area of Study are to prepare nurse scientists who will:

  1. Conduct health services research.

  2. Disseminate knowledge to influence the delivery of health services.   

  3. Contribute to health policy.
