Brief biographical statement from the selection year
Jean C. McSweeney, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN ‘83 holds an M.S. in nursing from the UT Arlington College of Nursing. At the time of the award, she held an appointment as professor and associate dean for research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, teaching in the doctoral program. She is a nationally known nurse scientist whose work has changed cardiovascular health care for women. Awards include the highest honor given by the American Heart Association Council on Cardiovascular Nursing -The Katharine A. Lambright Award. In 2010 she was one of four nurses to serve on the National Institute of Nursing Research Advisory Council.
Dr. McSweeney is a fellow in both the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Nursing.
