The HESI A2 exam is designed to assess prospective students’ academic readiness for higher education in a health care field.
1. What is the cost?
Current cost will be listed on the testing site when you schedule your appointment
2. What sections of the HESI A2 will I take?
Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary and Grammar
You will also take the Learning Style and Personality Style in order to better support your learning experience.
3. Will the HESI A2 scores be used in the selection process?
Yes, except for Learning Style and Personality Style. A minimum comprehensive score of 300 is required.
4. Is there a minimum score?
Students comprehensive HESI A2 score must be 300 or higher (total of math, vocabulary, reading comprehension and grammar scores) in order to be eligible for application to the College of Nursing.
Students scoring below 75 on the math portion of the HESI A2 will be required to complete a math remediation program.
5. Is there a way I can prepare for the test?
There is an optional study manual available at the UT Arlington Book Store; or you may order it from the website at http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/homepage.cws_home . (Enter: Admission Assessment Exam Review in the search box.)
We also have a book in the Undergraduate Student Services office that you may review here, but it cannot be checked out. (PKH ROOM 662)
6. Where will the test be administered?
UT Arlington administers the test. Dates, times, and locations vary and are listed on the testing website.
7. Can I take it at other sites?
Yes. You may test at UT Arlington, or the test is also administered by Prometric. You may access their website at http://www.prometric.com/ for location, cost, etc. Instructions on how to become eligible can be downloaded by clicking HERE (Link). The HESI A2 is an Elsevier test and it will be listed under that heading. Test results from ProMetric and other schools of nursing will be accepted if they are listed on the HESI printout and are not older than 3 years.
8. How do I register for the test?
You must register for the HESI exam through UTA Testing Services

9. May I retake the test? If so, how often?
You may retake the test every 6 months

These two profiles provide students insights about their study habits, learning preferences and dispositions as they related to academic achievement.
Testing will be limited to UT Arlington students – you must have your “1000” number (UTA i.d.) in order to register. You will have 4 hours for testing.
