Physical Assessment of the Child by the
RN
July 8-11, 2008
This workshop is designed for Registered
Nurses who wish to advance their skills in the physical assessment of
children. Content utilizes a systematic approach to assessing the
variations that occur in children of different ages, from childhood
through adolescence. Participants will practice health assessment
skills in classroom sessions and discuss the strategies to most easily
assess children in healthy and in common illness states.

Physical Assessment of the Adult by the
RN
August 12-15, 2008
This workshop will enhance the Registered Nurse's
knowledge and skills in physical assessment of adults in healthy and
illness states. The class content follows a systematic approach to
assessing health status and recognizing health indices of the normal
adult, from young adults to the elderly. Emphasis is on interpretation
of findings. Participants will practice advanced assessment skills
throughout the sessions.

Writing for Publication- Part II
August 20
Have you always wanted
to publish but find the process overwhelming? This program teaches Nurses
how to prepare their writings for publication. The speaker is a highly
acclaimed nursing journal editor, a prolific writer and nationally known
speaker. Even if you could not attend Part I in June, join this session and
learn the skills and hints that will help you to be successful in writing
for publication. Bring the copies of your draft, outline of an article, and
ideas for potential publications.

The workshop focuses on the identification, discussion and practice of
communication strategies specific to Spanish-speaking clients. Focus on

Rural Health Outreach Program (RHOP):
Through this special Center, we
offer on-site, affordable continuing education to health care
professionals of rural Texas. Topics offered to organizations are
specially designed for staff nurses and nurse managers in hospitals,
nursing homes, home health, hospice services, physician offices, and
other health care facilities. Contact hours are awarded based on the
