Associates of the
Center
The Center has been providing educational programs and services and a program of research to assist health care providers gain knowledge and skills for culturally sensitive care since its inception over 10 years ago. Following the retirement of the co-director, Dr. Mary Elaine Jones, the Center was restructured with the addition of Associates who will share responsibility for various aspects of the Center's work. Recently, Dr. Wendy Barr was named Co-Director with Dr. Mary Lou Bond. UT Arlington School of Nursing Associates Jose Alejandro, MSN, MBA, Clinical Instructor and Vice President of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), - assumes responsibility for selected educational offerings. Dolores Aguilar, MSPH, APRN, Clinical Instructor - assumes responsibility for selected educational offerings. Serves as liaison with area community health agencies. Mary Jane Ashe, RN, MSN, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Student Services. Serves as liaison between student organizations and the Hispanic Center. Dr. Carolyn L. Cason, Associate Dean for Research and Director, Center for Nursing Research - provides consultation on selected research projects. Dr. Ferne Kyba, Professor Emerita - assumes responsibilities for oversight of fund raising activities. Community Associates Dr. Carolyn Cagle, Associate Professor, Texas Christian University, Harris School of Nursing, assumes responsibility for consultation on selected research and educational projects. San Juanita Garcia, BSN, RN and a UTA School of Nursing Alumna - serves as faculty for Medical Spanish continuing education courses. Dr. Adela Gonzalez, National Association of Latino Health Professionals - provides general consultation on issues of Hispanic health. Dr. Mary Elaine Jones, Brig. General Lillian Dunlap Professorial chair in Nursing at The University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX - assumes responsibilities for selected aspects of the research goals of the Center. Dr. Suzan Kardong-Edgren, Washington State University- assumes responsibilities for development and marketing of selected educational offerings. Staff Yudmila Pacheco, a UT Arlington Nursing Student, assumes responsibility for clerical and marketing activities. |
