Advanced Practice Registered Nurses provide care
in most health care settings in the United States. Nearly all 50 states have some form of
prescriptive authority for APRNs. The prescription of psychopharmacologic agents by APRNs
is an efficient, safe, and cost-effective way to provide quality comprehensive care to the
millions of persons and families suffering from neurobiological disorders/mental illness.
It is timely as well as imperative that APRNs have increased educational and research
opportunities in order to integrate psychopharmacology, related neurosciences and research
activities into their practice.
It is the goal of the Center to increase the
knowledge, understanding, and research expertise in psychopharmacology and related
neurosciences of APRNs and other health care professions.
The Center for Psychopharmacology Education and
Research at UTA seeks collaborative relationships with educational, research and
professional organizations. The aim of the collaboration is to enhance psychopharmacology
education and research activities and to expand the development of educational, research,
and practice opportunities in psychopharmacology.
