| For over three decades, my attentions have focused on the family, from teaching
obstetrics and emphasizing the "healthy" family to teaching an elective on the
"unhealthy" family impacted by violence and/or addictions. A pattern of research
developed over the past 21 years has explored predictive factors for violence and
addictions; consequences of violence and addictions, such as postpartum depression
and post-traumatic stress disorder;
attitudes of health care professionals regarding partner violence; protective factors
sustaining recovery in female alcoholics; and treatment issues for both the child and
adult living within violent and /or addictive families and partnerships. |
