Prior to seeking an academic appointment with UT Arlington, I served as
Senior Vice President of Nursing Administration and Compliance Officer at
Parkland Health & Hospital System. I was in the Parkland system since 1984
where I served as Director of Emergency Services and advanced into other
management positions in that system. I am an active member of numerous
nursing organizations including: American Organization of Nurse Executives,
Emergency Nurses Association, American Nurses Association and Intravenous
Nurses Society Nurse Executive Board. I have spoken at local, national and
international conferences on such topics as Emergency and Critical Care
Nursing, teaching, retention and outcomes from Basic and Advanced Cardiac
Life Support Training, Nursing Research, Shared Governance, Work Redesign
and Health Care Reform. I am actively involved in the American Hearth
Association and the CPR Anytime initiative bringing CPR training into the
homes of families everywhere.
