My love and passion for gerontological nursing and caring for the dying grew from the "seeds planted" during my first nursing position when I served in the Commission Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service at Fort Defiance Indian Hospital on the Navajo Indian Reservation. My graduate nursing education included a two year post-doctoral fellowship which is the foundation for the development of my program of research in palliative nursing. I love research and the challenges and opportunities of teaching nursing at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I am currently working with several graduate students on their master's completion projects! The opportunities in nursing are only limited by your imagination. Reading, Writing, collecting Southwestern and Native American art, travel, and nature are activities that I share and enjoy with my husband.
