I have been a faculty member at UTA since 1979. My clinical area of interest is Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing with a special focus on addictions, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorder. I have been a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 1995, and am director of this program of study at UTA, educating post master's psychiatric nurses and master's students in this field. I work with the community to open up job opportunities for PMHNPs and work nationally to promote the role. I am active at many levels both professionally and as a volunteer focusing on the problem of addictions in our society.  We are preparing both Family PMHNPs to manage patients through the lifespan and Adult PMHNPs to manage adolescents and adults. My focus in life is on service and encouraging personal and professional growth.
