
The College of Nursing’s “Introduction to Genomics” course is offered for 2 weeks in the spring-summer intersession (NURS 6390-003). This course introduces students to some of the basic genetics and genomic concepts that are relevant to human health. This intensive course meets online for one week and on campus 6 hours/day for another week. Students sample a variety of topics, such as DNA structure and function, the ethical, legal, and social implications of genetic testing and genetic research with human subjects, Mendelian inheritance, gene-environment interactions, and basic laboratory techniques.
