“Enhancing Your Nursing Practice and Patient Outcomes Through Written and Culturally Based Communication”. Offered by the Center for Hispanic Studies in Nursing and Health at The University of Texas at Arlington College of Nursing, this program is intended for professional nurses, health professionals and faculty who wish to begin or refine professional writing skills and explore cultural influences on communication.
Departing from Cape Canaveral, Florida on June 16, 2013, the workshop is conducted on Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Sea and makes 3 ports of call. Led by Dr. Pat Yoder-Wise and Dr. Mary Lou Bond, the planned activities will include a welcome reception, sessions on writing skills for professional publications, communication strategies for culturally diverse populations and off shore excursions at selected ports. Dr. Pat Yoder-Wise is the Writing Coach for UTA College of Nursing and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing and Nursing Forum. Dr. Bond is a bi-lingual English-Spanish speaker, has lived and practiced nursing in Mexico and Puerto Rico and has led students and professionals on ‘study abroad’ trips since 1976.
