The Nursing Education Program prepares nurses to practice as nurse educators in Schools of Nursing and Health Care Delivery System departments. Emphasis is on the knowledge and skills needed to develop curricula, teaching skills, and evaluation strategies. Graduates will be eligible to take the National League for Nursing Certified Nurse Educator Examination, following two years or more of full-time employment in the academic faculty role.
This program provides graduates with a background to:
- Assume responsibility as an academic Nurse Educator in Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Nursing Programs.
- Assume responsibility as a nurse educator in health care delivery systems.
- Demonstrate leadership skills to enhance professional nursing and delivery of quality health care.
- Use research and theoretical principles to provide and evaluate educational programs.

Admission Requirements for Degree Program*
*An additional requirement of The Masters in Nursing Education Program is Physical Assessment content within the last 3 years or an approved Physical Assessment Continuing Education course.
Admission Requirements for Nurse Educator Certificate Plan
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or proof of equivalent education at a foreign institution.
- GPA of 3.0 or above
