Nursing Professor to be Honored as Fellow of Palliative Care Nursing
Barbara Raudonis, PhD, RN, FNGNA, Myrna R. Pickard Professor in Nursing at the UT Arlington School of Nursing, has been selected by the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association Board of Directors as a Fellow of Palliative Care Nursing (FPCN). As a member of only the second group to be appointed as Fellows, Dr. Raudonis joins just 15 other individuals who received this award in the inaugural class of 2009. Dr. Raudonis has been on faculty since 1997. She completed her PhD at UT Austin and did a post-doctoral fellowship in Nursing Care of Older Persons at Oregon Health Sciences University. In 2006, she attended the Summer Genetics Institute, NIH-NINR, where she completed 12 hours graduate credit in molecular genetics from Georgetown University. In 2008, she was named a Fellow of the National Gerontological Nursing Association (FNGNA). She has numerous publications and presentations in the area of palliative care and has received recognition and awards for her research. She currently teaches in the MSN and PhD programs. Dr. Raudonis was selected in recognition of her extraordinary accomplishments in palliative nursing care and for the contributions made to HPNA.
