A Support Network
ISC is a support network for wives, husbands and significant others of UT Arlington international
students and scholars. The one thing members have in common is that they all are here because of their
spouse's academic career or professional commitment to UT Arlington. For many people this presents
a huge life change. The purpose of ISC is to make this transition a little bit easier by assisting and
encouraging spouses to build both social and resource networks.
Membership
Membership includes women and men from all over the world, including the US, all with different
levels of English fluency. Membership is free, and by signing up, you will have an excellent
opportunity to make new friends, improve your English and have a lot of fun!
The Meetings
During the Fall and Spring semesters, meetings are organized twice a
month by the Office of International Education. Each meeting revolves
around a specific topic and speakers are invited to share their expertise
on issues of interest to our members. These meetings may also include
cultural events and activities, such as cooking, dancing or a holiday
craft. Occasionally, the meeting may be a short trip within the metroplex
to visit museums, take a tour and discover new and interesting places.
Coffee, tea and snacks are provided at each meeting.
All members are welcome at any meetings and are encouraged to invite other spouses of UT Arlington students and scholars.
Children
Children are welcome. For younger children, there are special activities in a room next
to the adult meeting room and supervision is provided by the OIE. Please bring your child's
favorite toy or book. Infants and children over 5 should plan to stay with their parents.
