Opportunities are available for both undergraduate and graduate students wishing to study abroad.

Find out about UTA's International Education Fee Scholarship .

Financial Aid can be used on UTA Study Abroad Programs!

Students participating in any programs that earn resident UTA credit are eligible for the same financial aid they would receive if they were studying on campus. The International Office will submit budgets for all programs to the Financial Aid Office. These budgets can be used to determine the award a student will receive. You should have a copy of the budget for your records. The official budget will not include any refundable deposits because financial aid regulations do not allow this. The official budget will only cover reasonable expenses associated with the study abroad program. This does not include extensive non-school related travel and a luxurious social life. If you live an expensive lifestyle, you will need to make financial provisions over and above the amount indicated on the official study abroad budget provided by the International Office. Financial aid for study abroad can be a long and sometimes difficult process. To make the process work as smoothly as possible students must contact Financial Aid early and work closely with a counselor.

Talk to an advisor in financial aid early! The Financial Aid Office is on the second floor of Davis Hall. You can also find information at http://www2.uta.edu/fao . Financial aid issues must be taken care of by you, before you leave. The Overseas Opportunities Coordinator cannot act on your behalf to take care of financial aid matters while you are abroad.

Your financial aid awards cannot legally be dispersed until a minimum of 10 days before the first day of classes at UTA for the semester in which you are enrolled while abroad, regardless of the start date of the program abroad (talk to your financial aid advisor about the actual dispersal date). This means you may have to cover some payments (such as airline tickets etc &hellip ) and tuition costs while you wait for your financial aid to be dispersed. Be prepared for this. If you are studying on an affiliated program, talk with the program provider about deferring your tuition and fee payments based on your financial aid award.

Each semester UTA awards the International Education Fee Scholarship to qualified study abroad participants. All study abroad students are encouraged to apply. UTA scholarships can generally be applied to study abroad programs. Work-study grants are not available for study abroad participants.

Students participating on non-UTA programs are not able to use UTA financial aid. However, they are still eligible to compete for the International Education Fee Scholarship.
