MavSpace was launched in Fall 2006 to help students, faculty, and staff store and share files. Faculty/staff are allocated 800MB storage space, while students are allocated 500MB. Learn more about MavSpace.
MS Windows Departmental Shared K: Drives will be limited to a quota of 500MB. Help Desk agents will NOT have a way of determining how much quota has been used in the shared departmental folder, although a Windows administrator can determine this information for us. If a user has problems saving or retrieving files from a shared departmental folder, then the quota has likely been exceeded.
MS Windows Faculty/Staff J: Drives will be limited to a quota of 200MB in their personal network folder (J: drive). Once the quota is exceeded, the user will experience problems accessing Outlook Personal Folders and/or Outlook Personal Address Book stored on the J: drive, as well as problems saving and retrieving files from this folder.
MS Windows Student Drives will be limited to a quota of 160MB in their person network folder (J: drive). Once the quota is exceeded, the user will experience problems saving and retrieving files from this folder. The WWW folder (personal web folder) within the student's network folder will have an additional 100MB storage capacity.
Student MavMail comes with 5GB of storage. Get more info at http://www.uta.edu/oit/email.
The Faculty/Staff Exchange E-Mail quota is now 2GB. It is not possible for OIT to give any quota increases to any mailboxes with the current space available. There are several ways you can manage your mailbox to avoid exceeding your quota. Click here for quota management tips and guidelines.
UNIX / Linux
Omega/Gamma2 Home Directory Quota - A default disk quota of 50MB (10MB on Gamma2) is set for all student and faculty/staff accounts. Once this disk quota is exceeded, the user will be unable to write any more information to the disk. Users should consider compressing large files using the 'gzip' or 'compress' commands, delete unnecessary files, transfer files to other systems, or store them offline (for example on a CD-R, or DVD-R disk). Users may determine how much disk space they are using by issuing the 'quota -v' command.
Omega Inbox Quota - A default disk quota of 20MB is set for all E-mail accounts on the Omega server. New mail will not be accepted once the user exceeds this limit. To reduce the size of the Inbox, users should delete old messages or move them from their inbox to other mail folders. Once messages are moved from the Inbox they will count towards the users' home directory quota, usually 50MB.
