Antivirus Information
Description:
Malware, be it a virus, worm, trojan horse, backdoor, spyware, botnet, rootkit, or any number of other variety, is a costly and undesirable nuisance that is a persistent part of the modern computing landscape. The risk of being a target of some form of malware is very real, and it will happen. It is one of our goals as OIT to assist all of our computer clients in the management of this risk and the implementation of steps to help mitigate the potential damage malware can cause to the computing resources.
Computer security is a collective effort and is the responsibility of both the University and the individual users of the computing resources. Antivirus software is a required component to ensuring that the computing resources are well defended. It is the responsibility of each person to assure that they have antivirus software installed and that it operates properly. Users are encouraged to become informed and to take adequate steps to maintain their computers.
