Windows Server Update Services
This service is for UT Arlington Faculty and Staff computers only. OIT is not responsible for any other usage.
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is an extension to Microsoft's Windows Automatic Update. Since more and more security vulnerabilities and other stability issues target Microsoft Windows and Office products, WSUS is a great tool for managing and distributing critical, security updates to Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or above, Windows XP Service Pack 1 or above, Windows Server 2003, Office 2003, MS Visio, MS Project.
This
service is set to run daily at 12pm . Users logged on the
computer will be prompted to reboot once the updates are installed. When
prompted, save your work, exit all programs and reboot. If no one is
logged on the machine, the computer will reboot automatically.
To subscribe to WSUS and/or to make sure you have the newest WSUS features
click on the subscription link. If prompted click Run.
To unsubscribe from the service click on the link below and, if prompted, choose Run.

Windows Update Agent
This program is used to determine which updates should be applied to a computer, download those updates, and then install them with little or no user intervention. The newer version of this helps normalize computer stability during the scan and update process. -
Update for Windows XP (KB927891)
This is a reliability update. This update resolves an issue in the Windows Installer (MSI) that can affect performance during software updates. -
Office 2003
If you are prompted for the original product CD-ROM or media, click on Office OBS Update link and then choose Run when prompted to save. You should then re-subscribe your machine to WSUS.
