UTA Wireless Network
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides wireless network access in the academic buildings across campus. These wireless access points allow 802.11a/g/n devices to connect to the UT Arlington campus network for Internet access. The configuration utility will work with most devices running Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android operating systems. Please contact the Help Desk if you experience any problems, including any areas of poor signal quality.
UTA Wireless Network Components:
- UTA Auto Login - A wireless network offering Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) Enterprise encryption and 802.1x technology to provide a secure wireless experience with optional automatic login at startup. This is intended to be the most common way for wireless users to connect to the UTA network.

- UTA Web Login - A wireless network offering Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) Personal encryption with manual login from a web browser to provide a secure wireless experience for shared computers. This method should be used on shared systems, or for systems that do not support 802.1x technology.

How to Get:
Access IT HELP to request an account for an event or a visitor - Guest and group accounts can be set up to accommodate visitors with wireless laptops. To request a temporary visitor account, a faculty or staff member must act as a sponsor for the individual or group of people. The account sponsor should complete and submit the Wireless Visitor Account Request Form.
How to Use:
Fastest Wireless Recommendation - To obtain the fastest connection speeds to any wireless network we recommend that you utilize an "802.11a/n" wireless adapter with 5Ghz
- Much like a mobile phone, wireless networking relies upon broadcast radio waves for the sending and receiving of data. The ability of wireless-enabled devices to connect to wireless access points and the signal strength (and speed of data transfer) can be greatly affected by many factors: location in relation to the access point(s), brand of wireless device and antenna type, and amount of interference from other radio sources. OIT recommends, when available and applicable, the use of Cisco and Linksys wireless cards and adapters.
- We recommend that you delete any wireless networks that you will not connect to regularly. To do this:
- Select Start, Connect To, Show All Connections
- Right click Wireless Connection, Select Properties
- Click the Wireless Networks tab
- Under Preferred Networks, select and then remove any networks that you no longer want
- Reboot and recheck all the wireless network card settings. It has taken several reboots on some laptops before the settings would take effect and enable the card to establish a connection.
Failed to Open Page - Not connected to the Internet (Mac OS)
Apogee MyResNet - All residence halls are now provided internet service through Apogee ResNet. Residents will need to log into www.myresnet.com to establish an Apogee ResNet user account (see the Get Connected Guide, https://www.myresnet.com/support/, to learn more).
