Desktop Printer Support
Desktop supports printing to properly-equipped network printers, through one of our print server queues. Desktop also supports printing to locally-connected printers. Due to security concerns, OIT does not permit printer sharing by desktop computers or workstations.
Printers that meet our specifications are located on our supported printer and as part of our Volume Purchase Printers. More information on supported printers is contained on our page, Printers supported by OIT.
OIT provides print queues on one of our secure servers to facilitate efficient printing by many users.
Network Printers that do not meet the standards for print queues, can be set up for direct printing via TCP/IP. Because of security issues, OIT does not permit workstation print sharing of local or network printers.
More information on adding printers to a system, please see our printing page.
Desktop facilitates HP printer repairs for printers that are in warranty and out of warranty through HP or other outside vendors. Repairs that are covered under warranty, are completed at no charge to the department. Presently, for supported HP printers, OIT covers the labor for repairs we facilitate, and the department is responsible for the parts. For unsupported printers, Desktop is happy to facilitate the repair order, but the deparment is responsible for the parts and labor. Contact the Help Desk for more information.
