Installing Ansys 12 for Windows

Description:

The instructions on this page are for university owned machines only that have "Property of UT Arlington" asset tags, also referred to as UTA assets in this document.  These are typical faculty/staff office computers that are connected to the UTA network. Depending on the purpose of using this software, you need to select proper license after you start ANSYS. Click here for instructions how to select license.

Please contact our Help Desk for instructions on how to obtain ANSYS for computer labs utilizing an imaged based deployment, such as SCCM. 

How to Get:

Authorized personnel who know and have access to the hidden network path to the resource files may perform the following Click Start > Run and type the install path: 

\\networkshare...\software2$\ansys\12.0\Windows\32-bit\ANSYS_12.0.1SP1\Setup.exe

and click OK.

1. Login if prompted.
   

2. In the "Open File - Security Warning" window click the "Run" button.
   

3. In the "ANSYS, Inc. Installation Manager" window click the "Install Required Prerequisites" button.
   

4. A list of prequisite programs will be displayed. If required continue installation required prerequisites by clicking the "OK" button.
   

5. In the "Open File - Security Warning" window click the "Run" button.
   

6. In the "Open File - Security Warning" window click the "Run" button.
   

7. In the "Open File - Security Warning" window click the "Run" button.
   

8. In the "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 Setup" window click the "I have read and ACCEPT the terms of the License Agreement" radio button and click the "Install" Button
   

9. In the "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 Setup" window click the "Exit" Button
   

10. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Read the following license agreement carefully:" text, select the "I AGREE" radio button and click the "Next >>>" button.
    

11. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Select the platform(s) to install:" text, click the "Next >>>" button.
    

12. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Enter the mount directory and installation directory:" text, click the "Next >>>" button.
    

13. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Select the feature(s) to install:" text, If you do not have Pro/ENGINEER or Unigraphics NX uncheck the following:

    ANSYS ICEM CFD Pro/ENGINEER

    ANSYS ICEM CFD Unigraphics NX

    Pro/ENGINEER

    Unigraphics NX

    Click the "Next >>>" button.
    

14. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Verifying license manager file dates:" text, click the "Next >>>" button.
    

15. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Please review settings shown below" text, click the "Next >>>" button.
    

16. Installation will proceed giving a "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with extraction status messages.
    

17. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window click the "Next >>>" button when prompted with "Click <Next> to continue ...".
    

18. In the "Specify the License Server Machine - Add Server Machine Specifications" window in the "Hostname:" text box enter lm-ansys12.uta.edu and click the "OK" button.
    

19. In the "Release 12.0 Licensing Client Installation Configuration" window click the "Exit" button.
    

20. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "Finish Installation:" text, click the "Next >>>" button.
    

21. In the "ANSYS, Inc. 12.0 Products Installation" window, with the "PLease take a moment to complete the survey:" text, click the "Finish" button.
    

22. In the "ANSYS, Inc. Installation Manager" window click the "Exit" button.
