UTA E-mail on iPhone and iPod

Description:

This page contains information on configuring an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch to work with UTA Faculty/Staff e-mail accounts.

iPhone and iPod Touch devices are not supported by UTA at this time. The information here is provided for your convenience only. iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS models will only support one Exchange e-mail account connection at a time. The iPhone 4/5 supports multiple Exchange account connections.

  6. Insert your e-mail address, username and password then tap on the Next button… as shown below

    • Note: e-mail address is your UTA e-mail address. Username and password are the credentials used to log into Outlook Web Access. Listed below are examples to assist you in entering the information correctly:
      • Server: owa.uta.edu
      • Domain: uta
      • Username:yourNetID
      • Password: Your current NetID passwordE-mail Settings
    • The username field usually requires the Exchange domain name and your user login name, separated by a backslash. If you are unable to view your folder list, or unable to send or receive e-mail, edit the username and delete the domain name and backslash.
  7. You will be asked what you would like to synchronize with the phone. Make sure that Mail is selected as ON. The other options are at the user’s choice. Tap on Save and you are done.

    Save Settings

  8. Now you can always check your UTA Exchange e-mail on your phone by selecting the Mail icon from the Home Screen.

The iPhone or iPod touch will try to create a secure (SSL) connection to your Exchange server. If it cannot do this, it will try a non-SSL connection. To override the SSL setting, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, tap Account Info, then toggle the Use SSL slider. After successfully making a connection to the Exchange server, you may be prompted to change your device passcode to match whatever policies may have been set on your server.

Choose which type(s) of data you would like to synchronize: Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. Note that by default, only 3 days' worth of e-mail is synchronized. To synchronize more, go into Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendars, select your Exchange account, and tap on Mail days to sync.

For users of iOS 3.0 and above, after configuring an Exchange ActiveSync account, you will be prompted to either keep your contact and calendar information by choosing "Keep On My iPhone" or remove them by choosing "Delete." Warning: choosing Delete will result in the permanent removal of your non-Exchange contacts and calendar appointments.
