iPhone Wireless Networks

Description:

How to connect the iPhone and iPod Touch to UTA Wireless network.  Requires iPhone OS 2.0 or later.  The following documentation was created using an iPod Touch, so your experience may vary.

UTA Auto Login

  1. Tap Settings

    Settings


  2. If WiFi appears at the top, tap WiFi and skip to the next step.  To turn on WIFI, tap General, then Network, then WiFi.

  3. Select the UTA Auto Login network from the list

    Select Auto

  4. Enter your NetID and your current NetID Password.  Press Join.

  5. Tap the Accept button on the security certificate.

  6. You should see the WiFi icon appear in the upper left corner of the screen whenever you are connected to a wireless network.

UTA Web Login

  1. Tap Settings

    Settings


  2. If WiFi appears at the top, tap WiFi and skip to the next step.  To turn on WIFI, tap General, then Network, then WiFi.

  3. Select the UTA Web Login network from the list

    Select Web

  4. Enter the following case sensitive password: UTAsecret



  5. Tap Join.

  6. Before you can access the Internet for any application including Mail, you must first login with your NetID through Safari.  Each time your device loses it's UTA Web Login connection, you will need to open Safari and login.

Removing a Network

  1. Tap the blue details arrow for a network.

  2. Tap Forget this Network.

  3. Confirm by tapping Forget.

  4. Tap the Wi-Fi Networks button to go back.

  5. Recomended: Turn off Ask to Join Networks. This will reduce the chance that you’ll accidentally connect to unrecognized or untrusted networks by not presenting you with the message to join a new network when it may take an extra moment to connect to the networks your device is already set to use.
