Known Issues:
Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" is no longer for sale. Users of this Mac OS X version on Intel Macintosh computers can upgrade to version 10.6 "Snow Leopard" but MUST PURCHASE the "Mac Box Set" in order to be properly licensed for that version. The "Upgrade" disc for 10.6 "Snow Leopard" is ONLY for computers that already have Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" licensed for that one machine. The 5-pack Family Pack option is also not permitted for commercial/enterprise users.

Change in Daylight Saving Time for 2007. For your computer to display the correct time during the Daylight Saving Time period, you will need to install some updates. First if you are running 10.4.4 to 10.4.7, you will need to install the10.4.8 Intel combo update. Once you have installed 10.4.8 you will need to install the Daylight Saving Time Update v.1.0 andJava for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 5 v.5.0. These updates can also be downloaded and installed by running System Preferences:Software Update.
The Daylight Saving Time change will also effect MS Office X and 2004. The patch for MS Office 2004 is within the MS Office 2004 11.3.3 update. The patch can also be found on Desktop Support's Mac Server Uranus or by using the MacHD/Applications/Microsoft AutoUpdate application. There is no patch for MS Office X. It is recommended that you upgrade to MS Office 2004 if your computer meets OIT requirements for MS Office 2004.
Norton Antivirus 10.0 installation-Error messages will appear and NAV auto protection will not run until Live Update is run and Norton Antivirus 10.1.x is installed and computer is restarted.
CiscoVPNClient 4.6.04-Error message during launch and will not run. You will need to install CiscoVPNClient 4.9.0.
Microsoft MSUAM 1.0.2-Error message when trying to connect to NT servers using AppleTalk. Advise against installing this at all on Intel Macs, since it can prevent connecting to severs with AppleTalk.
SPSS 11.x and 13.x are not supported by SPSS on Mac OS X running on Intel Macs. SPSS is working on SPSS 15.x that will run on Intel Macs.
Adobe does not provide support for their Creative Suite (CS2) software on Intel Macs. Adobe is working on producing CS3 which will be compatible with both PPC and Intel Macs.
Some installations of OSWClientProxy (used for Define) on Intel Macs result in OSWClientProxy from launching. Current Solution is to reinstall Mac OS X for Intel.
The Intel version of OS X can not run the following:
- Applications for Mac OS 9 or earlier
- Screen savers written for the PowerPC architecture
- Code that inserts preferences in the System Preferences pane
- Applications that require a G5 processor
- Applications that depend on one or more PowerPC-only kernel extensions
- Kernel extensions
- Java applications with JNI libraries
- Java applets in applications that Rosetta can translate; that means a web browser that Rosetta can run translated will not be able to load Java applets
