IBM Endpoint for Patch Management Linux Client

Description:

IBM Endpoint Client Installation

The following instuctions will provide guidance on downloading installation media for the IBM Endpoint for Patch Management client and how to install it on Linux distributions pertaining to:

  • CentOS
  • RHEL
  • SUSE
  • Ubuntu

How to Get:

CentOS - ver.5 & 6

  1. Logon with a root or sudo level account.
  2. Create a directory named BESClient in the following path /etc/opt/
  3. Download the following installation media files and place them in the /etc/opt/BESClient directory. Please mouse-click the file names to download the media..
  4. Perform the installation by inputting the following command:
    • rpm -ivh BESAgent-9.2.0.363-rhe5.x86_64.rpm
  5. Once it has installed input the following command to start the EndPoint manager client
    • /etc/init.d/besclient start

Red Hat Enterpise - ver. 5, 6, & 7

  1. Logon with a root or sudo level account
  2. Create a directory named BESClient in the following path /etc/opt/
  3. Download the following installation media files and place them in the /etc/opt/BESClient directory. Please mouse-click the file names to download the media.
  4. Perform the installation by inputting the following command:
    • rpm -ivh BESAgent-9.2.0.363-rhe5.x86_64.rpm
  5. Once it has installed input the following command to start the EndPoint manager client
    • /etc/init.d/besclient start

SUSE - ver. 11

  1. Logon with a root or sudo level account
  2. Create a directory named BESClient in the following path /etc/opt/
  3. Download the following installation media files and place them in the /etc/opt/BESClient directory. Please mouse-click the file names to download the media.
  4. Perform the installation by inputting the following command:
    • rpm -ivh BESAgent-9.2.0.363-sle11.x86_64.rpm
  5. Once it has installed input the following command to start the EndPoint manager client
    • /etc/init.d/besclient start

Ubuntu - ver. 10, 12, & 14

  1. Logon with a root or sudo level account
  2. Create a directory named BESClient in the following path /etc/opt/
  3. Download the following installation media files and place them in the /etc/opt/BESClient directory. Please mouse-click the file names to download the media.
  4. Perform the installation by inputting the following command:
    • dpkg -i BESAgent-9.2.0.363-ubuntu10.amd64.deb
  5. Once it has installed input the following command to start the EndPoint manager client
    • /etc/init.d/besclient start
