Function:

JAMF provides a comprehensive enterprise management and software deployment solution for Macs.

JAMF's Self Service application (similar to Run Advertised Programs in Windows and the Apple App Store) allows users to install software without having a tech stop by or remote control the computer.

JAMF pushes application updates similar to SCCM for Windows.

Known Issues:

Clients may see disk images and network shares (CasperShare) mount on their computers. This is normal behavior and allows the installation of software via Self Service and application updates.

JAMF may fail to install if an installed application contains a nested link to itself.  Adobe SpeedGrade is one application which is known to cause this issue.

How to Get:

This software is licensed for only UTA owned computer. Do not install this on non-UTA owned computers. 

Before downloading the installer check to see if your computer already has JAMF installed by checking if the folder /Library/Application Support/JAMF exists.  If this folder exists then you do not need to install the JAMF installer.

To obtain the software installer the computer must be connected to the UTA network.

Open a web browser and open the following URL:

https://caspermgmt.uta.edu:8443/enroll

Enter your NetID and password. it is preferred that the end user of the computer use their NetID and password if possible.

If prompted, save the QuickAdd.pkg file to your computer.

Installation:

This software is licensed for only UTA owned computer. Do not install this on non-UTA owned computers.

To install the software the computer must be connected to the UTA network.

If the computer is running OS X 10.8, open the System Preferences application, click on the Security & Privacy control panel, click the General tab and select the Anywhere option under Allow applications downloaded from.

Open the downloaded QuickAdd.pkg file. Follow the QuickAdd installer instructions.  The installation may take from 5 to 30 minutes.
