SCCM 2012 Client Manual Install

Description:

The following proceedure discribes how to install the SCCM Client from a computer manually.  Please contact OIT Service Desk for further assistance.

How to Get:

  • The client may be downloaded and installed by navigating to http://www.uta.edu/oit/cs/software/downloads.php and clicking on the download link corresponding to the appropriate client in the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 (SCCM) section of the Windows listing of downloads.

How to Use:

Installer for SCCM 2012 Domain Client

  • Right-click on SCCM-Client.exe; Run as Administrator.
  • Install SCCM-client.exe when prompted, a command window will open briefly then close.
  • In about 2 -3 minutes, open a Command Window as Administrator, and issue the following command: gpupdate /force . Do not close the Command Window.
  • In about 5 -10 minutes, Open the Control panel; the Configuration Manager Icon should be present.
  • If Configuration Manager is not present, close the Control Panel, and re-issue the gpupdate /force in the Command Window.
  • Reopen the Control Panel 10 minutes and Configuration Manager should be present.
  • Open Configuration Manager; click the Actions Tab.
  • Select/highlight “User Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle” then click “Initiate Action” . Repeat the process for the remaining files, then close the Configuration Manager.
  • Re-issue the gpupdate /force in the Command Window, then close the Command Window.
  • Once the SCCM Server and your computer are communicating properly, System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection should install automatically.

Installer for SCCM 2012 Workgroup Client:

  • Right-click on UTACM2012.exe; Run as Administrator. 
  • Install SCCM-client.exe when prompted, a command window will open briefly then close.
  • In about 2 -3 minutes, open a Command Window as Administrator, and issue the following command: gpupdate /force . Do not close the Command Window.
  • In about 5 -10 minutes, Open the Control panel; the Configuration Manager Icon should be present.
  • If Configuration Manager is not present, close the Control Panel, and re-issue the gpupdate /force in the Command Window.
  • Reopen the Control Panel 10 minutes and Configuration Manager should be present.

  • Contact OIT Service Desk and provide the following information:
    • Computer Name for machine which SCCM 2012 Workgroup Client is installed on.
    • Local Admin User NetID's for computer which contains SCCM 2012 Workgroup Client.
