Known Issues:
OIT has tested Windows 7 on supported hardware including standard supported software and found no issues with this software. If client hardware is anything other than a Dell Optipliex or Dell Latitude, client should contact your hardware vendor to ensure that there are Windows 7 drivers for your machine. Client also has to have all original cd's for their machine. If client is running any specialized software for mission critical UTA business, then you should talk to your software vendor to verify that the software is compatible with Windows 7 before you consider an upgrade or purchase of a new machine with Windows 7 installed.
There is no rush to upgrade to Windows 7 since Microsoft intends to continue support of Windows XP until 2014. In addition, we do not recommend that you upgrade to Windows 7 unless your machine meets our minimum hardware specifications.
Image Now installs on Windows 7, but cannot use the printer. It is not recommended to install Image Now on Windows 7 at this time.
Early Windows 7 machines had a GPO set that disabled Fast User Switching. This also disables the ability to unlock using another administrator account. This GPO has been changed for new machines. To change it on current (built before July 2010) machines, you can do the following as an administrator:
• Type gpedit.msc in RUN or Start menu Search box and press Enter.
• Now go to: Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Logon
• In right-side pane, double-click on "Hide entry points for Fast User Switching" option and set it to Not Configured.
If you encounter a machine which is locked and will not allow a login, you can access it using RDP and force the current user to log off.
Windows 7 running in virtual machines may have issues using the KMS server to register if the VM network settings are set to NAT. Setting the VM network settings to bridge solves the issue.
