Windows 8 downloads are not supported at this time.

Known Issues:

OIT continues to test Windows 8 on supported hardware. If client is running any specialized software for mission critical UTA business, then you should talk to your software vendor to verify that the software is compatible with Windows 8 before you consider upgrading your machine to Windows 8.

There is no rush to upgrade to Windows 8 since Microsoft intends to continue support of Windows 7 until 2015. In addition, we do not recommend that you upgrade to Windows 8 unless your machine meets minimum hardware specifications.

How to Get:

At this time, OIT is conducting additional research into Windows 8 interoperability with other systems. Desktop Support Associates wanting to test out Windows 8 in their own department, can email helpdesk@uta.edu to obtain a copy for internal testing. This page will be updated to reflect changes to this policy. 

UTA students, faculty and staff may purchase Windows 8 from the UTA Bookstore. Users are entitled to purchase one copy of Windows 8-32 bit OS and one copy of Windows 8-64 bit OS. These copies may not be installed on UTA assets and are intended solely for personal home use. Please call (817) 272-2785 for additional information.
