Windows XP Professional x64 Edition cannot be successfully installed on x86 (32-bit) systems or 64-bit Intel Itanium–based systems. 32-bit device drivers are not supported on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition

Windows XP Professional x64 Edition is available to UT Arlington faculty staff and students as part of the UT System Campus Enterprise Agreement. Media maybe purchased at the For UT Arlington Computer Store
Installation:
Specific 64-bit processors are required to support Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. To download a printable list (PDF - 13 KB) of all Intel Processors, their features, and information including details on which processors support Intel EM64T, click here. OIT does not recommend installation of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition unless there is an absolute need to process 64-bit based programs. If 64-bit processing is required and programs are readily available, contact OIT prior to attempting to install
