Administrator

This document describes how to check if you have local administrator privileges on your computer

Windows XP

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. Click to open the Control Panel
  3. Double-click User Accounts
  4. Look for your NetID account and see if it belongs to the Administrators group. If so, you should be able to install any new software. Otherwise, you may need to contact the OIT Help Desk to assist with your software installation

Windows 7

  1. Click on the Windows button or Start menu
  2. Click to open the Control Panel
  3. Double-click User Accounts
  4. Click Manage User Accounts
  5. Look for your NetID account and see if it belongs to the Administrators group. If so, you should be able to install any new software. Otherwise, you may need to contact the OIT Help Desk to assist with your software installation
