Available To:
- Departments and Offices at UT Arlington
- Students Admitted to UT Arlington
- Faculty (currently appointed) and Staff
System requirements: Windows, None
How to Use:
- The first step in using Dreamweaver with WebDAV is to setup a directory on your local computer. This can be accomplished through Manage Sites... found under Site in the menu bar.

- Select New and then Site.

- Enter a name for your Website and click Next. The name can be anything.

- Select "No, I do not want to use a server technology" and click Next.

- Select Edit local copies on my machine, then upload to server when ready (recommended). Choose a place to store your website's files. Choose this location carefully to make sure you have enough room on your computer and that you will be able to find it later. Then click Next.

- Choose WebDAV when asked how you connect to your remote server. Then click on the Settings... button to make some changes.

- Enter your publishing URL where it asks you for your URL. If your page is located at http://www.uta.edu/<website_name>, your publishing URL would be http://dav.uta.edu/www.uta.edu/<website_name>/ . If your page is located at http://www.uta.edu/faculty/<NetID>, your publishing URL would be http://dav.uta.edu/www.uta.edu/faculty/NetID. Enter your NetID and password. Specify an e-mail address if you want to. Click OK when you are done, and then click Next.

- Select Dreamweaver should check it out and then click Next.

- Review the information to make sure everything is setup the way you want it to be. When you are done, click Done.

- Your website should now be listed under Manage Sites by the name you gave it. Click Done.

- On the right-side of the Dreamweaver interface you should find the following menu. Look for the Check Out File(s) button and click it to download your website (if one already exists on the server).

- You will be asked if you wish to check out (download) the entire site. Click OK to continue.

- You should now have a copy of your website on your local hard drive. Edit it, make changes, etc. When you are done you will want to commit those changes to the server by clicking on Check In (upload).

- You will be asked if you wish to include dependent files. What this means is, if your webpage contains images and other media, do you want to upload those images to the server along with your changed web pages? You will want to answer No unless you have changed or edited your graphics. If that is the case, you would want to answer Yes in order to update your changed graphics in addition to the text.

- Your changes should then be uploaded and viewable through your viewing URL.
