Operating System Support
Supported Computing Platforms
We provide support for most industry-standard computing platforms, including Microsoft Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. We support the enterprise computing infrastructure of the university including centralized authentication and authorization services, electronic mail, university web sites, file and print servers, and numerous application and database systems.
Official support is offered for departmental servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2000 (and above) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions 4 (and above) managed through our Red Hat Network proxy server.
Departmental Server Support
Departmental installation support for Microsoft Windows Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux is provided for a nominal fee. This service includes installation instructions, limited tuning advice, and network setup configuration. This service does not include any application or layered product installation. It does not include any on-site or after-hours services, or any media required to perform your installation.
