Network ServicesMission StatementThe mission of the Network Services group is to provide highly available, flexible, and advanced network communication infrastructure in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner for The University of Texas at Arlington user community in support of the institution's strategic mission of the advancement of knowledge and the pursuit of excellence. ResponsibilitiesThe Network Services group installs and supports the basic
network infrastructure that is utilized by OIT departments, as well
as other entities, to provide advanced network communications
services to the UT Arlington student, faculty, and staff communities. Most
generally stated Network Services is responsible for the physical
network infrastructure, starting with the fiber and copper wiring
plant up to the network electronics (switches, hubs, wireless
access points, and routers), providing layer-3 network services
(including DDNS and DHCP) to all computational facilities across
the campus. Network Services closely collaborates with the UT Arlington
Telecommunications department in order to ensure the physical
wiring plant is sufficient to support current Telecommunication
requirements, as well as future VOIP services. |
