Remote Access System
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) system provides enhanced remote access for anyone with a UT Arlington NetID account. While the campus is generally accessible via the Internet some applications and services will not directly work across the public Internet due to security and licensing considerations. Using the industry standard Cisco VPN client software users connected to the Internet can enjoy a secure connection to the campus network that allows the user to check email, pass data files back and forth, and perform other transactions as if they were actually on the campus without the fear of the data being exploited while traveling over the Internet. For mobile users or those who do not have their own Internet Service Provider account a dial-up service is available for access to the Internet and campus resources. This system is not intended to service the entire campus, there are no connection fees, but rather to supplement the connectivity options most residents of the DFW area have at their disposal.
