Wireless Networking System
The "UT Arlington wireless" network, was installed with the help of funding support from Student Congress, and involved the installation of over 210 wireless access points that support all three of the current 802.11 wireless standards. Support for roaming across the campus, authentication services for access, and VPN style encryption to ensure secure wireless transmissions is provided by WLAN gateway equipment manufactured by Vernier Networks. Current efforts are aimed at providing wireless access in public areas across the campus, followed by classroom and office space.
