Qualifications

 

Maverick Orientation Leaders are hired to represent the UTA student body, so we aren't looking for just one type of student. Each student represents something different and brings something unique to the team. This diversity is what makes the Maverick Community and the OL team special. Check out the list below of the required and preferred qualifications of a Mav OL:

Requirements and Preferences

  • Must be undergraduate student enrolled full-time during the spring and fall terms
  • Must have completed at least one semester at UTA by January 1
  • Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA, each semester you are employed as a Mav OL
  • Must be eligible to be employed in the United States 
  • Must be in good academic and judicial standing
  • Must demonstrate exceptional oral communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational skills as well as exhibit initiative and attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate the ability to serve as a role model for all incoming students
  • Have a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a passion for UTA
  • Display a welcoming personality and great customer service skills
  • Should be comfortable presenting in front of large groups of students and staff
  • Demonstrate the ability to think on your feet and respond quickly and rationally to unplanned situations
  • Desire to learn about the mission of New Maverick Orientation and the needs of incoming students
  • Involvement in campus organizations and a basic knowledge of UTA policies and procedures
  • Have a desire and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
