The Writing Center offers real-time online tutoring using Skype, which provides free internet telephone service. Online tutoring provides “face-to-face” tutoring when you cannot come to the Writing Center.

Requirements for online tutoring:

• You must schedule an appointment at least two days before the assignment is due

• You must have the free Skype software installed on the computer that you use for the session
• Your computer must have a microphone and speaker or headset
• You must call the designated tutor via Skype to begin your session
• Your online tutoring sessions will last no longer than 30 minutes

To schedule an online tutoring session, you must call the Writing Center reception desk at 817 272-2601 at least two days before the paper is due. Online tutoring is only available when the Writing Center is open, except by special arrangement. When you make your appointment, you will be given the Skype contact address of the tutor with whom you will be working. You are responsible for calling the tutor’s Skype contact address at the scheduled time. If you do not call the tutor within 10 minutes of the scheduled appointment, your appointment will be canceled. Once logged in to Skype, the tutor will ask you questions about your assignment and the paper and ask you to upload the paper.
